The purpose of the Can One Evening Race Association (COERA) is to provide an environment for good racing and good fellowship, at the same time promoting good seamanship and sportsmanship. It is the group’s goal that all members will become better sailors, while renewing and deepening good friendships.

Can One is an independent organization run by sailors from the area bordered by City Island and Rye, New York. Members come from local area clubs, marinas and boat yards. There is no requirement that participants be members of a Yacht Club.

Nineteen races are run from early May through the middle of September. Only eight races are required to qualify for a trophy and if you sail more than eight races, only your best eight will be scored. Races start at 7 pm in the vicinity of green Can 1, located northeast of Execution Rocks. To ensure quality racing, Can One owns its own committee boat and employs a Professional Race Officer to run our races that go around government marks.

To attract new members, we offer one race free to anyone who wants to give it a try.

During the winter months we run educational and social events.

The CAN ONE Evening Race Association is a member of the Yacht Racing Association
of Long Island Sound and the U.S. Sailing Association.
